A Description of Volunteer Opportunities at Schuylkill Banks
A Schuylkill River Development Corporation Destination
Movie Night Volunteers: 3 to 4 hour commitment (minimal physical exertion).
Set-up starting around 6:30pm, Movies beginning at dusk, and breakdown around 10pm. Volunteers should be able to assist with carrying folding tables and chairs and with assisting attendees with snacks, drinks and information about other Schuylkill Banks programs available at the information and snack table.
Kayak Tour Volunteers: 3 to 6 hour commitment (moderate to heavy exertion).
Volunteers are expected to assist with moving kayaks from storage to dock (and back at the end of the day), assist participants with life jackets and equipment, and assist tour guides and Schuylkill Banks staff with getting participants safely in and out of kayaks. When possible, volunteers will be able to participate in a kayak tour to enjoy the experience and be better prepared to assist particpants and to better explain the kayak tour to visitors who may have questions about the program.
Tour Boat Volunteers: 2 to 4 hour commitment (minimal exertion).
Volunteers assist walk-up customers with ticket purchases and information about the tour, help pre-registered passengers get checked in, and have the opportunity to ride along on the tour once all tickets have been purchased and riders have been checked in. Volunteers with a history, environmental science, and/or tourism background interested in possibly leading selected Tour Boat trips are encouraged to apply.
