Build Hope as a VISTA

Centro Nueva Creación builds hope in Fairhill and surrounding neighborhoods by creating opportunities for youth and families to transform their community. This mission is realized through programs n education, community service, career development, technology and the arts.

Most recently, Centro has partnered with another non-profit organization, Lutheran Settlement House, to offer English as Second Language courses to adults during non-programing hours.

In 2000, Centro created an innovative arts program, the Goodlands Community Arts Program. The Goodlands (a registered trademark of Centro) began as a summer photography class and has expanded to a year-round photography and mural painting initiative.

The vision of the Goodlands is to improve the way that residents and the greater Philadelphia community perceive North Philadelphia through the transformational power of art. The mission of the Goodlands is to teach our youth the fundamentals of photography and to encourage them to see and create beauty in their neighborhoods.

VISTA responsibilities include:

Develop and implement program assessment for our after school and summer programming,
Coordinate special events
Solicit in-kind donations
Aid in the development of marketing materials and external communications.
Write grants.

Requirements include:

Candidate should be a self-starter
Highly developed written and communication skills
Research skills
Highly organized.
Spanish speaker a plus.
