Center for Intergenerational Learning Seeks VISTA

VISTA Opportunity at the Center for Intergenerational Learning (CIL)

An Overview of CIL:

For more than 28 years, the Center has mobilized thousands of older adults and youth to serve as resources to each other and their communities, most of which are low-income. Older adults serve as literacy tutors and mentors, parent outreach workers, and oral historians, and provide in-home support to teen mothers, families caring for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses, and grandparents raising grandchildren.

Young people provide respite services to frail elderly and their families, conduct oral histories with nursing home residents, and help older immigrants and refugees learn English and prepare to become U.S. citizens.

VISTA Responsibilities May Include:

1. Research communications strategies and platforms of other successful nonprofits (e.g., online research, interviews with communications directors, media advisors, website designers, etc.)

2. Catalog best practices

3. Help develop a communications needs assessment tailored to individual programs

4. Collect data and help conduct a gap analysis

5. Outline a center-wide communications plan including short and longer term programmatic goals, priority need areas, and implementation timelines.

6. Implement and evaluate communications plan components
