Paid Position at Family Friends Program
*Identifying families interested in participating in the program
*Conducting telephone intakes and interviews/assessments with families in their homes
*Providing ongoing social work/family support to families of children with special needs including problem solving, informal counseling, goal setting, community referrals and follow-up
*Assisting with volunteer recruitment, training and supervision
*Planning and organizing special events for volunteers and families, and group respite trips for children with special needs
*Documenting and reporting activities with program participants, including web based reporting to funding agencies.
*Performing other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and three (3) to five (5) years related experience with families and children with special needs. MSW or MSS preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in the area of families and children with special needs.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
*Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.
*Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs.
*Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse staff and client population.
*Ability to travel to locations in the community that may not be accessible via public transportation.
