Job Opening at Coming of Age

Coming of Age promotes age 50+ civic engagement, learning, and leadership. It works to transform the knowledge, talents, skills and passions of adults over 50 into a force for building a better community. Partners in this initiative are the Temple University Center for Intergenerational Learning, PBS station WHYY, AARP Pennsylvania, and the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

The Position:

Reporting to the Director of Coming of Age, the thrust of the Assistant Director’s work is to involve more people 50+ in the Philadelphia area in the initiative. The Assistant Director works with unions, alumni groups, community associations and others to make those organizations aware of the initiative’s work and to involve their membership in efforts to pursue substantive and compelling paid and unpaid opportunities to connect and contribute to the community. A special focus of this effort is work with individuals and organizations in diverse communities, including developing and managing a public awareness campaign.

The Assistant Director also is the liaison with Coming of Age partner WHYY in connection with the initiative’s lecture/community dialogue series, Boomervision!® and other programming, and liaison with the resources the initiative engages in connection with its Internet presence and evaluation of programs and services. The Assistant Director also represents Coming of Age from time to time in public forums.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must possess a master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of experience working in managing projects and/or marketing. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

  • The candidates must have a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including public speaking; and strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including group facilitation.

 

  • Preferred qualifications include experience in one or more of the following: sales, marketing, diversity training, and web-based projects. The position offers excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition remission.
