VISTA Opportunity: Fund-Raising for Boston Mentoring Program
The Organization
AFC Mentoring empowers foster/adopted youth to flourish through committed mentoring relationships. AFC Mentors one-to-one mentoring program matches adult volunteer mentors with youth in care who are between ages 7 and 14; our Team AFC group mentoring program works with the same population, although some of these youth are 15-17. The organization focuses especially on serving youth with few or no consistent positive relationships and introduces them to others who were in care who are now successful, so youth can see that they too can thrive. The youth served are among the highest risk identifiable group for future poverty, but also have great potential. \
