Nancy Henkin
I’m Nancy Henkin, founder and Executive Director of Temple University’s Center for Intergenerational Learning.
At the Center we try to strengthen communities by uniting generations
to meet the needs of people and families in all stages of life.
For 25 years, I have developed intergenerational programs, written
books and other publications, and consulted with local, national, and
international organizations in the fields of aging, youth, and
education.
I have spoken at a number of conferences in these fields,
including the annual and other meetings of the American Society on
Aging, the National Council on the Aging (NCOA), Generations United,
Grantmakers in Children, Youth, and Families and the Rosalyn Carter
Institute.
In March 2005, I received the Jack Ossofsky Award of NCOA in recognition of the work that we have accomplished at the Center.
I received my B.S. from Simmons College and my Ph.D. from Temple
University, and am an adjunct faculty member in the School of Education
at Temple. I serve on the Mayor’s Commission on Aging in Philadelphia
and the Verizon National Consumer Advisory Board.
