VISTA
Fighting Poverty with Passion

Youth Ventures in Concord New Hampshire is looking for a VISTA who will develop partnerships intended to empower thousands of youth to be social entrepreneurs.

The mission of Youth Venture is to change the role of youth in society by enabling young people (ages 12-20) to create, launch, and lead “ventures” – organizations, clubs, or businesses that contribute positively to the community.

Born out of the lessons learned from over 1,000 Ashoka Fellows (international social entrepreneurs who are changing their communities), Youth Venture helps youth develop concrete plans of action and provides an array of tools and resources designed to help youth transform their world.

Through Youth Venture, teens can take responsibility for their own lives and communities by playing a substantive role as change agents, and in turn can help redefine societal perceptions of the role young people can and should play within our society.

Youth Venture helps young leaders succeed by providing the tools, networks, and support they need to work with and serve others. We work with Partner organizations (i.e. schools, after-school organizations, etc.) to ensure the youth they serve have access to this opportunity and the support they need to succeed.

The VISTA will play an important role in developing partnerships with high schools, universities, and community organizations to empower thousands of youth to be social entrepreneurs. Youth Venture strives to help young people recognize their role as catalysts for change and representatives of a larger, international youth movement that demonstrates the enormous power young people While all young people may apply to become a Venturer, over 75% of our outreach efforts, partnership, and current Venturers are from low-income and minority communities.

We have developed a strong base of Venturers and secured key partnerships in various locations throughout the country and we now need someone with the leadership skills, creativity, and determination to spread this program to every teenager in the nation.

Accepting applications  From 6/5/2007 To 8/24/2008
