As of July 1, 2010, Shepherd’s Center Central became the new sponsor of Corporation for National and Community Service. RSVP recruits and places volunteers 55+ with organizations and agencies within the community. For the past thirty years, this RSVP program had been sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Johnson County which closed its doors, Spring 2010.
About Coming of Age/RSVP of Johnson County:
This new initiative combines the best of RSVP with Coming of Age: Kansas City which is already in place. Key components of the new initiative are:
- 55+ volunteer recruitment, training and retention
- Interactive website and the e-newsletter Inspiring Opportunities
- Learning Labs for partner agencies
- Explore Your Future for new and experienced volunteers 55+
- Strategic Community Partnerships
- Strengthen existing partnerships and develop new ones
- Retain and grow the base of dedicated and well-trained volunteers 55+
- Identify high impact community projects which require volunteers
