Saluting Our Veterans: New National Caregiver Support Line provides resources and referrals
Veterans are our country’s heroes – we are wholeheartedly thankful for their willingness to give their time, talent and even their lives to protect us. In gratitude for veterans’ service, the Department of Veterans Affairs has launched a program designed to help those who made such generous sacrifices. Via a toll-free National Caregiver Support Line, veterans and their families seeking assistance with caregiving needs – including support groups, financial assistance, transportation, long-term care and more – will be able to talk with licensed clinical social workers and get connected with important resources.
Shepherd’s Center Central excitedly tips its hat to this new program that will aid caregivers of adults age 60+. The VA’s telephone assistance is an excellent complement to the Kansas City Caregiver Supportline; caregivers should take advantage of both to improve their quality of life and reduce stress.
