Make a BIG Difference Teams

For two years, Coming of Age, with the support of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, has provided grants to Philadelphia-area nonprofits to recruit age 50+ volunteers to work on a project that addresses a major community issue.

Recent team projects include helping eligible families apply online for benefits and tax refunds, developing a thrift store for a resettlement organization where donations are being made available to immigrant families, and providing information about the criminal justice system to elder crime victims and accompanying them to court proceedings. These year-long projects are supervised by the nonprofits and overseen by a Coming of Age coordinator.
