Spiritual fulfillment can be a lifelong journey that is different for everyone.  As people age, many seek to find meaning in daily life. There are several studies that show the positive effects that seeking and maintaining spirituality have on aging. Practices such as meditation, yoga, and deep breathing, for example, can promote health. Other studies suggest that having a spiritual base makes coping with illness and loss less stressful. And lastly, spiritual exploration, when shared with others, can help build community.

Spirituality and Healthy Aging

Here are two fascinating articles not to miss! One study by a Harvard instructor  Sara W. Lazar reveals that meditation can increase brain function by reducing, and even reversing, the effects of aging. Findings from a different study indicate that older adults who are religious or spiritual have better health and are better able to perform day-to-day activities.
